At CPB 3 Judgment Recovery, the concept is very simple.
You deserve to get paid, if someone owes you money and you sued them and won.
As you may have discovered, a judgment isn't an order to the defendant to pay you. Instead, it's a decision that you were right and are entitled to be paid. After you get the judgment, you're allowed to use the mechanism of the courts to get paid.
But the folks at the court aren't necessarily going to help you.
And if you don't know where your defendant (called a judgment debtor once you get your judgment against her/him) works or banks, you're pretty-much out of luck.
So you have two choices. You can try to find assets on your own and then fill out an enormous amount of paperwork and spend a little more money and hope for the best.
Or, you can call us.
So the questions are: what do we do and how much will it cost.
Covering the last question first, the answer is nothing. Unless we collect. If we do collect your money, we charge a percentage of what we collect. If we don't, we don't get to charge you anything.
Also, we collect your money with our money. We advance court costs and if we collect the funds owed your judgment debtor will pay us those costs back. If not we lose, but you don't.
What we do is we find assets and do all the paperwork to levy on the assets of your debtor. We're not a collection agency. We don't call and ask someone to please pay the money they owe you. We don't call and threaten them either. We operate in what we call "stealth mode."
Like a stealth bomber, they don't see us coming or hear us. They know about us after we've stricken, i.e., levied on their wages or their bank accounts. Sometimes they initiate a call to you or us, to try to settle up at that point.
